Waukee Project: Great Room
In early December I did a blog post revealing the kitchen remodel. Today I am revealing the great room. I am going to keep the copy light as I've described this project in detail in previous posts.
To quickly recap: Mr. Client is a bachelor with great taste! His style is a mix of contemporary and mid-century. The home is a ranch-style with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It is open concept with vaulted ceilings in the great room.
Essentially we gutted the space. Everything is new with the exception of the window coverings (he had just installed them prior to our reno) and the large colorful art on either side of the tv.
I used neutrals and layered in color through art and accessories. People are sometimes afraid to go contemporary because they feel it comes across as cold. I balanced the hard angles and cool colors by using a natural stain, instead of a gray stain, on the hardwood floors and chose furniture that incorporated warm toned wood.
With that, let's jump into the photo gallery.

And finally, to wrap up this project, I'll be posting the master bath and ensuite in the next week or so. Stay tuned!
As always, thanks for stopping by.
